"This is for all you girls about twenty-five
In a little apartment, just trying to get by
Living on, on dreams and spaghetti-o's
Wondering where your life is gonna go"

this says more than i can even express.

that quarter life crisis seems to be hanging around. can you die from stress?

it's my day off...good times.

here's something i find kind of funny. i turned on the news and the two stories that lead the news were:

1: how three inches of snow shut down a stretch of the freeway that is called the grape vine. people were panicked about black ice and snow. they are 'worried about the well being of the homeless' during these 'extreme' colds. i know, i know, they aren't used to it here but i kind of want to drive up there and drive on the ice, just to show them how it's done.

2: california legalized medical marijuana (enter your joke here about how that's the reason i moved here) and they legalized it about 10 years ago. here's the funny thing, it's still illegal in any stretch of the imagination under federal law. so, all of these 'pharmacies' here that stock the medical marijuana got raided yesterday by federal dea agents. everyone is up in arms because they shouldn't have the right to raid these shops. when did california break off from the rest of the country and become exempt from federal law?? just fyi: i've literally never even touched the stuff, for those of you who are actually worried right now.

THIS JUST IN

3: a body was just found just south of holt ave.... man, you gotta love southern california.

good times.

off to enjoy the sunshine

some very exciting news... apple announced their iphone today. it's incredible technology. aside from the price, i'm extremely excited. it's actually all touch screen. it's an ipod as well as phone. i can go on and on, it's incredible. click on the pictures to see more at apples web site.

in other exciting news, it was 85 here the other day. not kidding you. i walked outside in a sweatshirt and thought, 'what the heck is this?' it had been in the 50s until then, it dropped into the upper 60s today. not gonna lie, it's pretty nice for january.

i've decided that i'm going through a midlife crisis. is that possible at 25, does that mean ill die at 50? this can't be a good sign. my brain keeps jumping back and forth between 1. i'm 25 and i'm not in a long term career, i don't own a home, i'm paying off debt and i don't know what i'm doing with my life (enter labored breathing here) and 2. i'm only 25, i'm too young to have a career and far too young to be married.

the problem is that either argument has me wanting to either drink heavily (not really, just kidding, no one panic) or get a new job. i'm not kidding, i'm actully stressing about this. it doesn't feel good.

what is your opinion of me joining the LA police department? my mom about came through the phone...what about everyone else?

off to talk myself off a cliff...and talk myself out of hyperventilating,
k

another day off.

i feel like i've had more days off than days on. it's strange. i'm not complaining by any means, it's nice to have a break after the holiday season.

my dog has been sick for the past few days and she started getting worse this morning with projectile vomitting. so first thing this morning (around 11am) we headed to the vet. one rectal temp, one fecal test, two hours, and $125 later...they didn't find anything. they gave me pills to give her to make her 'solidify,' if you know what i mean. oh, and she's eating rice, cottage cheese and chicken. boiled chicken. i had to boil a chicken. that was a new experience. i just kept looking at it like...it looks the same, how do i know that i'm not killing my dog with some bacteria...don't worry, i called my mom, she walked me through it.

so, from the vet, we went down to dana point so i could find some sharks teeth for my nephew who is doing a science project with sharks for school. i found some cool shark stuff and then headed to the beach that cali and i always go to. so, we're there, i'm letting cali swim which she hasn't wanted to do much lately so i was willing to put up with a sand caked dog just so that she was moving. and as i'm staring out into the ocean thinking, 'i can't believe its january 3 and i'm standing in the sun and sand enjoying the ocean." and all of a sudden... a WHALE surfaces not too far off shore. not kidding. i thought i was imagining things, even though it was close enough to be able to know that it was a whale and it's did the whole blowing air up thing which is what got my attention. it was so great and amazing. it surfaced 12 times before i lost sight of it. it was incredible. though it make me a little nervous to let my dog swim some more.

from there, i headed to the grocery store so i could pick up that chicken that i mentioned i had to boil and then headed home. after cali slept and turned into one solidified sand creature, it was time for a bath which she HATES. she's exstatic when she's done, but before and during, she is terrified. it's so funny.

cali giving me the look to try to convince me to not give her a bath.

the 'if i don't get out of this bath tub right now, i will die instantly,' look.

it's not as good as sand but rolling on a towel is just as much fun.

an i'm-happy-to-be-out-of-the-bathtub, dog

pretty nice day off. plus my cell phone has been dead for close to two days now. i just forgot to charge it and not gonna lie, i actually don't miss hearing the ring. the electronic leash is off.

i'm off to bed. it's back to work tomorrow. and it's another full day.

whale to your mother.

ahh 2006, good times.

i got to spend new years with my friends sharon and steve and a group of people. it was so much fun! we played a game of TriBond, which i had never played before. other than the girls team losing, it was a fun game. i didn't have my friends kyle or justin making...'strange' comments, but it was a great night!

i've decided that the next place i'm traveling to, outside of the states will be south africa. i kinda invited myself to go back with sharon next time she goes. did you know that the hippo actually is the most dangerous animal...well... in a specific region. but it's responsible for more human deaths than lions and other crazy killer animals. who knew?!?

out with the old, in with the new...

this will be the year

you know, i turn 26 this year. and quite frankly, i'm not ready. amber, you're 26 already, how's that going? i'm getting nervous.
